Director's welcome

Director – Mrs Caroline Kouatcho

Within every great institution, the compilation of each year’s history is integral to its grand story. It’s a privilege for me to be a part of this particular grand story. 2024 turned out to be a superb year for Metropolitan Group of Schools (MGS). Our bold vision is to deliver quality education in a conducive and safe environment for every MGS learner. This brave strategy aims to ensure that each learner is understood and then challenged appropriately to work towards developing a best version of themselves. While we continuously work on refining this strategy, we’re proud of the fact that each MGS boy and girl can feel that he/she has some autonomy in their choices and in achieving their personal dreams.

As 2024 quickly draws to a close, we reflect on a year full of successes, laughs and highlights, we cannot help but be incredibly proud of our schools. Our schools has continued to build on a successful 2022 academic year with remarkable academic achievements, a joint primary, G.E.T and high school Sound of Music stage product, individual and team sporting achievements and wonderful youth leadership development programmes.

The Metropolitan Group of Schools Community is one that is very special, and we know that the strength of a school is when there is a strong partnership between parents, staff and the students to achieve a common vision. The community has shown incredible commitment to the school in so many and various ways and I am very thankful and proud to be a part of this school and this community.

Academically, we embraced a new approach to teaching our learners, redesigning the curriculum with an intentional focus on developing 21st-century skills like collaboration, creativity and communication to prepare our pupil for a fast changing world.

On the sporting front, our boys and girls did remarkably. Most importantly, all are engaged and learning, whether they’re playing for the 1st or 2nd team. Our 1st XV had a tremendous unbeaten season worthy of celebration. We’ve also made great strides in our ladies soccer and rugby offerings, which all our pupil enjoy.

We live in a fast-changing world with a significant number of new experiences thrust upon us. Pupil growing up at this time in history will be ready for this type of world, in a large part due to the excellent tuition and guidance they receive from a dedicated and competent staff.

The various reports in this edition, serve as a record of events and achievements, but I also hope they convey some of the spirit of this great school which continues to mould our today’s learners into responsible future leaders, ready to take on the world. MGS, founded to raise ladies & gentlemen and simultaneously serve as a beacon of hope to its surrounding community, is achieving its aims. It is a place of promise and purpose. A place to which I am privileged to make a small contribution.

Thank you for an amazing year and I wish you well over the Festive Season and the holiday period. If you are travelling, please do so safely and I look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.

Yours in Academic Excellence,
